Velva Doris Ellis

Doris Ellis OREM – Velva Doris Oakes Ellis, 83, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Orem of causes incident to age. She was born November 23, 1923 in Huntington Park, California, a daughter of Robert Sewell and Zona Pearl Garner Oakes. On March 3, 1951, Doris married Donald Courtney Ellis in Elko, Nevada. Donald preceded her in death on April 13, 1999. She made her home in Ogden, Huntsville and Orem. Doris was a fantastic mother and devoted wife. She was always there for her family and friends and was a great patriot who was a wonderful example to all. Doris is survived by five sons and five daughters, Donald (Beth) Ellis, John (Carol) Ellis, Terry (Judi) Ellis, Steve Ellis, Robert (Shawna) Ellis, June (Lew) Anderson, Iris (Dick) Heinze, Linda Drake, Lucy (Ed) Wolsey, Zona (Allan) Olsen, 27 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Robert S. (Vonda) Oakes, El Paso, TX; James A. (Marlene) Oakes, Fresno, CA; JoAnne (Ken) Judnick, San Bruno, CA; Lois Taylor, Clovis, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Don and one brother John G. Oakes. Graveside services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Family will meet friends at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Email condolences to the family at lom@lindquistmortuary.com
