Venice Lucille Gittins Stoddard November 25, 1934 ~ April 1, 2018 OGDEN – Venice Lucille Gittins Stoddard, 83, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Venice was born November 25, 1934 in Smithfield, UT to James Floyd and Lucille Allen Gittins. Her family later moved to the Ogden area. She attended Weber High School graduating in 1952. She married Harold Leslie Foulger in 1953. They had three children. They were later divorced. Venice married Glen West Stoddard on October 12, 1981 in San Diego, California and were sealed together in the Ogden LDS Temple on April 12, 1983. Venice was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Rock Cliff 7th Ward (formerly the Ogden 71st Ward) for most of her adult life. Venice was employed at Defense Depot Ogden, retiring in December 1989 after 33 years of service. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, gardening, travelling and sight-seeing. Upon retirement, Venice and Glen acquired an RV and adopted the ‘snowbird’ lifestyle. During the cold winter months in Utah, they would escape to the warmer climates of Arizona. And although some folks that knew her best might sometimes describe her as a feisty or stubborn lady, she was also very personable and always made new friends on her journeys. (And please don’t tell her I said she was feisty!) Venice is survived by her sister Barbara Scott (Jerry) Johnson; three sisters-in-law Patsy (Allan) Gittens, DoraMae (Bill) Chaney and Emma Lou Maxfield; her sons Michael (Debbie) Foulger and Kevin (LeeAnn) Foulger; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen, her daughter Patti (Ray) Robinson, her sister Verlyn (Don) Rentmeister, her brother Allan (Patsy) Gittins and her beloved, life-long friend Pauline Marble. Though we will miss her very much, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited once again with her loved ones that have passed before. As per her wishes, there will be no public viewing. A private family prayer service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary. Graveside services will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Hooper Cemetery.
