Venoy Louis Wall, 84, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1940, in Rupert, Idaho to Chris and Sylvia Wall. Venoy grew up in Salt Lake City and was a proud graduate of East High School’s Class of 1958, where he met his high school sweetheart, Virginia. They were married on September 18, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Venoy served in many church callings, always eager to help others. Together with his wife, Virginia, he served as a temple worker in the Chicago Illinois Temple, and their shared service brought joy and fulfillment to both of them.
After retiring in 2000, Venoy and Virginia settled in Layton, Utah to be closer to family and friends. During his retirement, Venoy enjoyed fly fishing and camping from the local Uinta Mountains to Yellowstone and beyond and went golfing frequently with friends and family. In his downtime, Venoy loved to watch the Utah Jazz and enjoyed supporting both the University of Utah and BYU football teams. Throughout his life, he also cherished many opportunities to travel the world, marveling at the beauty of God’s creations.
Venoy’s example of service and faith was an inspiration to those around him, as was the selfless manner in which he cared for Virginia in their later years. He will be remembered not only for his service to his church and community but also for the kindness and generosity he shared with all those around him, including countless charitable organizations.
Venoy was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Virginia, his parents, his sisters Arlene (Bob) and Beverly (Phil), and his grandson Ryan. He is survived by his five children: Michael, Gary (Shelly), Ruthann (Bob), Carolyn (Shawn), and Cathy; his older brother Elwood (Sandra); 10 grandchildren, who he loved dearly: Laura Michelle, Alene (James), Jordan (Mercedes), Garrett, Ashley (Brandan), Rachel (Zach), Tyler, Madi, Peyton, and Jackson; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Venoy’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Fairfield Assisted Living for helping with his needs. Delicious soup was enjoyed by Venoy at almost every meal. The family also expresses their gratitude for the nurses and caregivers from Active Home Health and Hospice.
