Vera Alene Peck Colohan

April 30, 1929 – December 31, 2016

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Vera Alene Peck Colohan passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Beehive Home in Syracuse surrounded by her loving family.

Vera was born April 30, 1929, in Provo, Utah to Leo and Hazel Goddard Peck.

Vera married Charles Paul Colohan on November 29, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Vera graduated from South High School and she attended LDS Business College.

She worked at DDO on 2nd street and at Hill Air Force Base.

She was a faithful member of the Roy 11th Ward and served in many positions in the Church from Primary to Relief Society President. She and Charles served in the South Africa Cape Town mission from 1994 to 1996 as proselyting missionaries. They also served for two years in the Ogden Temple as ordinance workers.

Vera was very involved in all the activities of her family and served her children in many capacities. She was their chauffeur, cheerleader, coach, psychiatrist and biggest fan. She was also an avid bowler and was the captain of the Hell's Belles bowling team.

She is survived by her husband Charles; four children: Kevin (Debbie) Colohan, Cory (Michele) Colohan, Chris (Janel) Colohan, and Kelly Combe; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Vera was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Bernice Forsythe, Glen Peck, Lois Provensha, Darlene Dyson, Wanda Draper, Faye Thorne, Jarvis Peck, and Ron Peck.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Beehive Home in Syracuse and Inspiration Hospice who provided love and tender care to Vera in the last week of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday, January 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
