Vera Elaine Mower Joos

Vera Elaine Mower Joos, 87, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home.

She was born October 2, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Robert Alfred and Mary Lundberg Mower.

On June 30, 1945, Vera married Philip Paul Joos in Ogden, Utah. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1995.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Roy 27th Ward. Throughout her life she faithfully served as Primary President, and as a teacher in the Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society and M.I.A.

Vera was a school teacher for the Ogden School District for 30 years and prior to that she worked for Defense Depot of Ogden.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Women''s Education Association, Daughter of the Utah Pioneers Camp C, and Ogden Retired Teachers Association.

She collected dolls and books. She loved family gatherings, shopping and sweets of all kinds.

Vera is survived by her children, Paul (Diann) Joos, Layton; Linda (Dave) Donoghue, Pocatello, ID; Marilee (Stephen) Smuin, Roy; Alan (Carla) Joos, Baton Rouge, LA; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Marian Miner, Salt Lake City; Ruth (Carl) Boatwright, Roy; Joy Mower, Roy; Alice (Ray) Gibbons, Riverdale; and Carol Williamson, Ogden.

The family would like to acknowledge a special friend and caregiver, Vada Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip, grandson, Jordan Joos, parents, and son-in-law, Dave Donoghue.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
