Vera LaRue Hogge Poorte
ROY- Vera LaRue Hogge Poorte passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 1,1918 in West Weber, Utah daughter of David Shirriss Hogge and Eva May Fuller Hogge.
Vera married Lewis Grant Poorte on June 22, 1946 in Ogden. On December 18,1946 their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She grew up in Eden, lived in Ogden, Farr West and Roy.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a counselor in the Relief Society, Primary President, Temple Worker and a Visiting Teacher for 57 years. She was associated with the Daughters of Pioneers. She worked for Coleman Knitting Mills and also the school lunch program.
Vera enjoyed knitting, cake decorating, bowling, crocheting and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons; Joel S. (Tonya) Poorte, Roy; Paul E. (Deanna) Poorte, Elba, Idaho; Lee E. (Judi) Poorte, Logan; one daughter LaRue Collard, Clearfield; 23 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren and one sister Iva Mae Olive, Gallup, New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her husband, son Keith Lewis Poorte, granddaughter Mitzi Satterthwaite and two brothers Elden D. Hogge and Marion C. Hogge.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park 4500 Washington Blvd.
