Vera E. Schmid
OGDEN – Vera Elizabeth Schmid, 89, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at a local care center.
She was born December 17, 1918 in Leipsic, Indiana, a daughter of Isaac and Perl Hayworth Moon.
On February 14, 1941, Vera married Richard Carl Schmid in Dayton, Ohio. Richard preceded her in death in 1997.
She had lived in Indiana, Ohio, Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, and in Utah since 1985.
Vera was a member of the Protestant Church.
She was an artist and interior decorator. Vera enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, art, playing the piano, reading, and singing. She traveled all over the United States and Canada. She loved going to Wendover, and having breakfast at Denny’s.
Surviving are one son and one daughter, Bruce (Susan) Schmid, VA; Sheila (Frank) Hopkins, Ogden, UT; five grandchildren, Chris (MaryAnn) Hopkins, KS; Tobin (Jennifer) Hopkins, CA; Julie (Jon) Johnson, Midvale, UT; Wendy (Art) Dowdy, South Ogden, UT; Brian Hopkins, Ogden, UT; and seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Dowdy, Lexis Larsen, Sydney Larsen, Thaddeus Dowdy, Sarah Hopkins, Liam Hopkins, and Rebecca Hopkins.
Also surviving is her older sister, Ethel Disque of FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Ivan Moon, Ralph Moon and Byron Moon, and her sister, Lois Moon.
The family expresses special thanks to Emeritus Estates and Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for their loving care of Mom.
