SOUTH OGDEN a€" Vera Eliza Gardner Scott, 91, peacefully passed away at Mt. Ogden Rehabilitation Center on Friday, January 21, 2011 while rehabilitating from an accidental fall.

She was born September 15, 1919 in Teton City, Idaho, a daughter of Elmer and Mable Elsie Olsen Gardner. She and her twin sister Verla were the oldest of seven children. She grew up in the Teton area and attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho.

On April 15, 1941, Vera married Clarence G. Scott in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved to Ogden in 1947. Together they raised their three sons, Boyd, Jay, and Richard. Clarence passed away at age 73 on February 20, 1991. One year later their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Vera''s career spanned 26 years at the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden beginning in 1958. There she excelled in her positions as a tax examiner and was honored on multiple occasions for her suggestions to improve the operations at the center. She retired in 1984.

Vera loved to keep herself busy with her hobbies of crocheting, doll making, ceramics, keeping up her photo albums and gardening. She also volunteered for 25 years at the South Ogden Senior Center.

She enjoyed her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, she provided service in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She was especially fond of her family home evening group and her writing class.

Vera is survived by three sons, Boyd (Donna) Scott, Jay (Maureen) Scott, Richard (Tricia) Scott, all of Ogden; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Arlan (Joanne) Gardner, Teton, ID; Joyce Miller, Riverdale, UT; Velora (Chuck) Dolezal, Grass Valley, CA; and a brother-in-law, Max Mitchell, Cameron Park, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Elmer Lyle Gardner, her sister, Marjorie "Marge" Mitchell, her twin sister, Verla Petersen, one son, Robert, and one great-grandson, Jonathan Scott.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden 6th Ward Chapel, 4400 Orchard Avenue.

The family will greet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday, January 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
