Verda R. Frongner Bartay

LAYTON a€" Verda R. Frongner Bartay, age 87, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.

She was born October 7, 1923 in Morgan, Utah the daughter of James and Elizabeth Smith Frongner.

Verda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married her loving husband Forrest E. Bartay on September 11, 1961.

Verda was second youngest of eight brothers and sisters. She grew up on a farm in Morgan. She loved music, writing, sign language (both of her parents were hearing impaired) and boating. Most of all Verda loved to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Close Smiley of Syracuse; one sister Darlene and one brother Lewis of Morgan; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forrest Bartay, her son Roger Allen Close, two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Syracuse City Cemetery, 1787 So. 2000 W. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street.
