Verda W. Blaylock
OGDEN – Verda Wold Blaylock “Nanny”, age 96, died peacefully early Thursday morning April 12, 2007.
She was born December 21, 1910 in Ogden, to Royal and Lily Mitilda Wold.
Nanny married Waldo “Wally” Earl Blaylock on May 22, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they built a home at 173 Chimes View Drive in South Ogden where they raised their family. Wally died March 3, 1991.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 49th Ward where she served as chorister for many years.
Nanny worked for the government for many years, the Forest Service and the Internal Revenue Service until she retired in 1969.
She loved to be involved in social activities. She was President of the Women’s Golf Association at Golf City, a member of the women’s Aglae Club, she enjoyed dancing with Wally at the Elks Club, and also enjoyed the association with the Good Sam’s RV Club in which they help establish. Nanny always had many friends and was greatly admired by them. She loved to work in her yard and had great love and compassion for her pets. Moreover, Nanny loved her family and loved to help and serve others.
Surviving are three children, Larry W. Blaylock, CA; Marlyn LouJean Whiting, Bountiful; Sue Blaylock Williams, South Ogden; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers Dellis and Lloyd Wold.
Private family graveside services will be held.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m.
