Verdun A. Jensen
OGDEN – Verdun Alvin Jensen, 90, peacefully passed away after a long and active life on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in Ogden.
He was born January 30, 1918 in Morgan, a son of Alvin and Emma Mildon Jensen. He graduated from Morgan High School
Verdun served as a Combat Medic during World II and was awarded the Silver Star.
He married Josephine Hock on February 4, 1942 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. Josephine preceded him in death on February 20, 1988.
Verdun was a switchman for the O.U.R. & D. Railroad retiring after 45 years of service.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his trips to Arizona to visit with his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on his farm and visiting with his friends at Dylan’s, Fiesta Mexicana and Wangsgards.
Surviving are his son Jerri and daughter Denise (Richard) Young, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister Doris Durrant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one daughter, two grandsons, and sisters Wilma Dehann and Barbara Keyes.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.
