The Lord welcomed home a Good Man on November 23, 2018.
Verl Thompson was born January 30, 1927 in Clarkston, Utah to Ivan and Connie Griffin Thompson.
He married Betty Jean Blakeley on March 11, 1954 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Verl worked at the family farm before joining Swift and Company, then later retiring from Western General Dairy.
After serving a mission in Northern California, Verl enjoyed serving in many ward and stake church callings. He particularly enjoyed his many years of working in the Ogden Family History Library, eventually becoming the director.
Sports were an enjoyable past time for Verl. He played basketball and baseball, loved skiing and riding horses. He also refereed basketball for the High Schools and the church. Many late evenings were spent on the phone discussing Jazz games with his brothers, and watching them with his grandchildren. He was also a talented gardener, always freely sharing the produce from his garden with family and friends.
Spending time with his family was a top priority. He is survived by his four daughters, Susan (Greg) Bingham of West Jordan; Jean (Doug) Harding of South Ogden; Connie (Kevin) Krause of West Point; and Mary (Wade) Owen of North Ogden. He has 13 grandchildren, 19 great –grandchildren and two on the way.
