Verla Birt Barton

Verla Ellen Birt Barton passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, March 7, 2010, surrounded by her loving children who were honored and privileged to care for her these past eight weeks.

She was born September 29, 1923 in Clinton, Utah to Joseph Arthur and Josephine Lunn Birt.

On November 3, 1943, Verla married William H. Barton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2004.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Verla enjoyed camping, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Holsinger, Ogden; Randy (Janice) Barton, Roy; Jolene Belt, Roy; Nanette (Larry) Abel, Clearfield; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ileen Birt Lowder, Roy; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Birt, West Valley.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, with Bishop Myron Hartley, officiating.

The family will meet friends for a viewing on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
