Verla S. Burson
Verla S. Burson passed away on October 12, at the age of 90 after a short illness. She resided at Stoney Brooke Assisted Living in Riverdale.
She was born in 1921 and raised at the ranch owned by her parents Oscar and Emma Swett near Dutch John, Utah. After the death of her parents, the ranch became a National Historic Site. She had eight brothers and sisters and is survived by five sisters.
Verla married Ed Anderson in 1943. They lived in Clearfield until his death in 1980.
They had two children: Robert Anderson of Falls Church, Virginia, and Craig Anderson of The Dalles, Oregon. She had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She retired from the IRS Service Center in Ogden. Her hobbies included bowling and square dancing.
Verla married Mike Burson in 1988, and they lived in Sunset until his death in 2004. They were dedicated to living life to its fullest and traveled extensively both in the U.S. and overseas including many visits to her children and grandchildren. They attended the Clearfield Community Church.
Mike’s son from his previous marriage, Mike Jr., and his wife Sally treated Verla like their own mother and became almost her second family. In Verla’s last years, her niece, Betty Ann Ogden, was a loving companion and friend.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
