Verla Darlene Fielding

Verla Darlene Webster Fielding, 82, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, August 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. The younger of two children, she was born on January 29, 1931 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Joseph LeRoy and Laura E. Tanner Webster. Raised and schooled in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she moved as a teenager to Ogden where she worked as a clerk at Scowcroft.

She met Darold David Fielding whose uncle was married to Darlene''s older sister, Agnes. They began dating and later married on January 21, 1950 in Elko, Nevada. They were happily married 63 years before Darold''s passing on June 16, 2013.

In addition to raising her four children and being a dedicated homemaker, Darlene also worked for many years at Scowcroft and later retired from Sears as a human resources manager for payroll.

She loved bowling and belonged to many leagues and won many trophies at numerous tournaments and was a regular with Darold at Ben Lomond Lanes. Darlene also enjoyed trips to Wendover, cooking for the American Legion, playing bingo, and camping, but most of all she enjoyed her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her balance of strictness and love and for her great sense of humor, and most recently for her courage and enduring spirit.

Darlene is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Donald) Newey, Green River, WY; David (Julia) Fielding, Roy; and Michelle (Brian Harris) Gould, Ogden; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Agnes Anderson, and by her daughter, Vickie Lovato.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
