Verle Probst Young, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully October 15, 2014, after a brief illness, ten days before her 90 th birthday. Born October 25, 1924 in Midway, UT to Nephi and Eliza Elizabeth Beck Probst. She was the oldest of ten children. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Roy Young, September 25, 1953. Marriage later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in many callings. Mom’s faith was steadfast and immoveable. Her greatest love in life was her family and Mom was the center. Many wonderful memories were made and lessons learned with Mom and Dad at their home where food and love were lavished on all. She was happiest serving and caring for her family, especially her beloved Marilyn.
She loved cooking, family parties, roses, going to lunch, music of all kinds, watching the Jazz and BYU, keeping track of her family, and getting to know people. Her grandchildren were perfect in her eyes. She was a large feisty spirit packed into a small body whose passing will leave a large hole in our family.
She is survived by her six children: Laurel (Ronald) Barton, Cheryl (Dave) Parkin, Mark (Judy) Young, Elizabeth (Dane) Held, Marilyn Young, and Matthew (Dorothy) Young; two step-daughters, Kay (Ed) Hunt and Karen (Bill) Thomson; 26 grandchildren (one currently serving an LDS mission); 18 great-grandchildren (with three on the way); eight siblings: Grant (Barbara) Probst, Faye Bates, Emery (Marjorie) Probst, Geniel Bartholomew, Evan Probst, Kyle (Paula) Probst, Paul (Joyce) Probst and Janice (Eddie) Hansen; sister-in-law Elena Probst.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, great-granddaughter Ellie Ann Stevenson, and brother, Boyd Probst.
