Verlene Lorena Pulley Grover, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday October 10, 2018 in Henderson, Nevada. Verlene was born on June 15, 1929, in Egin Bench, Idaho, daughter of Charles M and Ethel W Pulley.
Verlene grew up in Idaho on a farm where she learned the value of hard work and had many friends. She was also known for being very good at sports.
On August 31, 1947, Verlene married Ernest Allgood Grover in Egin Bench, Idaho and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 31, 1965. They were blessed with two sons, and raised their family in Sunset, Utah where they lived for 40 years.
In 1988 Verlene and Ernie retired from Hill Air Force Base and began to travel south for the winters. They enjoyed spending time with great friends they made along the way.
Verlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings in Relief Society, and with the Youth programs when she was younger. She was the sports director for the North Davis Stake for many years. She recently had great friends who would pick her up for church. They also spent every Tuesday and Thursday in the temple. We are forever grateful to these great women.
Verlene had many hobbies which included fishing, golfing, knitting, crocheting and playing cards. She had a love for sports and could always be found watching her great grandchildren. Her favorite thing was playing cards with her family and them schooling then with a good hand of rummy or 31.
We want to thank Greg for taking such good care of her the last 10 years. She so appreciated it!
She is survived by her sons, Clay E.(Cheri) Grover of Chino Valley, Az, Greg R (Kelley) Grover of Henderson, NV.; sister Kay (Janet) Cordingley, Rexburg, ID; five grandchildren Stacy (Shawn) Strong, Syracuse, UT, Chad C Grover, AZ, Justin R Grover, TX, Noal Lawlor, Henderson, NV, and Eric Lawlor, Phoenix, AZ and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
