Vern Ware Adams

October 15, 1940 — October 9, 2024

On October 9, 2024, Vern Ware Adams loving husband, dad, treasure and friend collector, nature enthusiast, and lover of all animals passed away at the age of 83. Vern was surrounded by his family and loving care givers at Chancellor Gardens and Nurse Elizabeth as he left his Parkinson’s riddled body. Vern may no longer be here physically, but the memories and feelings of laughter, joy and good stories will always be present.

Vern could always be found looking for a yard sale treasure, good deals on a collectible item. Adventuring through nature, talking to the frogs and/or bird watching, and traveling, sometimes with no particular destination, but always enjoying the journey with his beautiful wife of 57 years, Barbara Adams. Those stories continue to live on through an adoring family of four daughters, a son and 10 grandchildren. Holli Adams and her sons Ian and Ashton Ferguson. Kerri Adams, April and her husband Aaron Frampton and their children Spencer (Marissa and soon to be baby girl) Frampton, Jake and Eliza. Tara Adams Jorgenson and her daughters Amorelle and Arianna. Travis and his wife Nalan Yirdium and daughters Anastizia Adams. Sera and son Cargi.

Vern Ware Adams was born on October 16, 1940, to Ada Ware Adams and Quincy Elias Adams at Dee Hospital before returning to the longtime family home on Rosewood Lane. He was the youngest of three children-Sister, Charlene Babcock (deceased) and brother Grant Adams (deceased).

Vern was an adventurous soul and spent his youth in typical 50’s style with a love for the outdoors and fast cars! A lifelong animal lover, in his youth Vern raised racing pigeons and studied Biology in College. He became a high school teacher upon graduation and taught Biology at Clearfield High School for 37 years. “Mr. A” also led a popular summer biology course where his love of the mountains and streams could be shared with his students.

Vern was an avid collector and enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. He knew a little bit about everything and passed his joy of knowledge onto his kids. We all remember being quizzed on camping trips about the botanical names of plants and animals.

Vern had an adventurous career that also included being a bail bonds collector and owner of the “Brigham City Trading Post” for many years. Vern also loved camping, canoeing, Yellowstone, and wandering into new unknown adventures filled with wildlife and biology. Vern and Barbara traveled in many antique and gun shows over the years and enjoyed many friends and finds.

During the last several years, Vern could be found with his loveable, giant Maine Coon cat by his side, his pets all knew he had a huge soft spot for animals. Many of the family stories involve animals and good-natured pranks. His mischievousness, intelligence and love will be sorely missed.

Due to our dad’s dislike of viewing and funerals we will celebrate his life, and he will live on in our storytelling and laughter of Vern’s stories that have become legendary within our family. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday October 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery 500 E. Crestwood Road Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 So. Fairfield Road Layton, Utah.

The celebration will be held at Vern and Barbara's Residence on Sunday October 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
