Vern F. Clark
ROY – Our dear father, grandfather and favorite uncle, Vern Floyd Clark, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1932 at home in West Weber, Utah the youngest of five children born to Alfred Floyd and Sarah Ann Clothia Hardy Clark. He was a vibrant, energetic individual. As a young man, he loved playing ball and played on many West Weber teams with his best friend, Duane Blanche.
Vern married Reva Halling on July 6, 1956. His only child, Gregory Allan Clark, was born from this union. They were later divorced. On September 12, 1975, he married Lillian Mae Brown and they spent their life together in Roy, Utah.
He spent his career at the American Can Company retiring when they closed.
Vern was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Vern helped many family members through extended illnesses and treatments. He also served many neighbors and friends, helping with yard work and in numerous other ways whenever needed. He and Lillian had an “extended family” at the Elks Lodge where he enjoyed calling bingo and helping cook breakfasts.
Surviving are his son, Greg, of Stockton, CA; stepson, Donald Brown II, Maryland; one granddaughter, Amy Rose (Johnny) Renteria, six great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. The family expresses thanks and remembrance to a special friend, neighbor and caretaker, Francine Rice, who masterfully and lovingly cared for Lillian and then Vern, for over the past two years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, brother Henry Hardy Clark, sisters Elveda Sarah Hebdon Larson, Elizabeth Florence Hanzlik and Dorothy Rose Boralho.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the West Weber Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
