Vern C. Gardner
SOUTH OGDEN a" Vern C. Gardner, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to all, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at McKay-Dee Hospital of heart failure. He was 60 years old.
Vern was born May 15, 1950 in Salt Lake City, the first child of Vern B. and Jo-Anne Campbell Gardner. After living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Star Valley, Wyoming, he moved with his family to South Ogden in 1960. He attended Weber County Schools.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved his activities at the Weber South Special Needs Mutual, where he made many friends.
Vern worked for several years at The Golden Hours Center, as well as many years with Big Vern''s Service Stations in Clearfield and Roy, and for over 20 years at All American Spas, where employees and customers loved him.
He loved going fishing, doing puzzles and taking the bus to town. He was a familiar sight at various street corners in Ogden and Roy, where he became friends with so many people as he waited for his bus. Vern loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Utah Jazz, and the University of Utah football and basketball teams. He was always looking forward to his next trip to Wendover.
Vern was proud of his Gardner heritage. He was surrounded and loved by a huge extended family, who gave him much support during his lifetime.
Vern is survived by his mother, brothers and sisters, Karen (Jeff) Johnson, Alan (Antonio Meza) Gardner, Bret (Alan Taylor) Gardner, Jan (Johnny) Smith, Chene Gardner as well as nieces, nephews, two special aunts, and many cousins.
His loving father and both sets of grandparents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 3rd Ward Chapel, 5640 South 850 East.
Family will greet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
