Vern Gordon Taylor, 90, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
He was born October 1, 1916 in Riverton, Utah to George A. and Hettie Williams Taylor. At a young age the family moved to Clinton.
On October 1, 1940, Vern married Flora Manning in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Roy before making their home in Hooper in 1943. Flora passed away May 5, 1969. Vern married Dona Parker Paice on August 19, 1969 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1998.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions. He served in numerous missions throughout his life including a mission to Brazil when he was a young man.
Vern was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. As an adult he earned his Silver Beaver Award. He served in the leadership for the Utah, Weber County, and the Hooper Farm Bureau. He also served on the committee for the Hooper Cemetery and was chairman of the Hooper Tomato Days All Breed Horse Show.
He was a life-time farmer and held various other jobs throughout the years. His favorite past time was his draft horses, taking hundreds of people for hay and sleigh rides over the years when he wasn''t using them to farm.
Vern is survived by his daughters, Lynne T. Robinson, Boulder CO; Maureen T. (Keith) Flint, Hooper; two step-daughters, Sharon P. Sarlo, Pleasant View; Marsha P. (Kurt) Fowers, Hooper; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Anne) Taylor, Grand Junction, CO; and two sisters, Afton Morrison, Nibley; and Mary (Fielding) Rice, Washington, UT.
He was preceded in death by both wives, his parents, two sons, Wayne and David, two brothers, George and Samuel and one sister, Flora.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12th at the Hooper North Chapel, 5000 South 5900 West, Hooper.
Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the church.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
