Verna Josephine Stoffers Eggleston 1919 a" 2008
OGDEN a" Mom left us on Monday, October 20, 2008, to be with Daddy again whom she longed to be with for the past 12 years.
Verna was born in Cokeville, Wyoming on December 2, 1919, a daughter of John and Ella Stoffers.
Verna married Lorin Eggleston on July 1, 1937 and moved to Ogden in 1940 where Daddy built many beautiful homes that Muma kept immaculate. They had two children, Barry (Benda) Eggleston and Carol (Bill) Allred.
Mom and Dad were never apart and were always helping, caring, and giving to family and friends. She was a kind and beautiful lady who was the matriarch of our family.
Verna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Primary and Young Women''s teacher for years.
She read books, books and more books. She loved to swim and also loved to teach swimming.
Her grandson, Troy Allred, and his partner, Mark Dillenbeck, took wonderful care of her for the past four years of her life. In her last hours, with the comfort of her grandson, Dr. Ben Eggleston, she finally made it.
Surviving are her children, 10 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Joice Eggleston and Ella Williams.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Lorin, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank Access Hospice, specifically Linda, Stephanie and Steve.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday Noon to 12:45 p.m.
