PLAIN CITY- Verna London Hadley, 88, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2012. Verna was born May 20, 1923 in Ogden, UT, to Seymour Leon and Mary Greer Housley London, the second of five children. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1941. She married Ambrose L Hadley on November 11, 1943; the marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on April 29, 1965. They were blessed with seven children, Raenee (Lewis) Lowder, Rodney Brose (deceased) Hadley (Kathy Hadley Williams), Sandra Kay (Ron) Hood, Oscar Leon (Debbie) Hadley, Louise (Rodney) Bryant, Nancy Joyce (Rick) Fisher, Carl Wayne (Paulette) Hadley.
She was active in the LDS Church serving in many callings. She especially enjoyed teaching young children and sending birthday cards to all the Relief Society sisters. She worked for the Weber County School lunch program and as a clerk for the U.S. Forest Service. Her hobbies were crocheting, embroidery, bowling, camping, cooking and canning, and spending time with her grandchildren. She made afghans, "poop" ducks, dishcloths, hot pads, and towel rings to give to family, friends, and neighbors. Christmas was very special to Mom; each grandchild received a gift from Grandma every year.
Survivors include six children, 27 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren (one on the way), seven great-great-grandchildren (three on the way), brother, Frank Wayne (Luetta) London, sister-in-laws, Launna London Albiston and Sandra London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brose, son, Rodney, one grandchild, Colin Brose Fisher, four great-grandchildren, Cody Linke, Darcee Barnes, and Kaytlyn and Carson Lowder, sister, Doris London White, and brothers, Jack Leon and Robert Geary London.
The family would like to thank Alpine Hospice, Tammy, Amy, Randy, Bruce and Dr. Scott Moulton for their compassionate care given to our mom. We extend a very special thank you to Paulette for her kind and tender, loving care of Mom these last few months.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
