Verna Loveless

Verna V Harding Loveless passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 in Bellevue, Washington at the age of 95.

Verna was born in Vineyard, Utah on June 22 1921 to Roland and Nora Harding.  She grew up in Vineyard, attending Lincoln High School. She married Gail C Loveless on June 15, 1943 in Moultrie, Georgia while Gail was on leave from his WW II Army service.  After the war Gail and Verna raised a family while moving throughout the U.S. including Washington, California, New Jersey and Colorado.  They ultimately settled in Layton, Utah.

Verna contributed her many talents as she served in the LDS church, fulfilling callings as Primary President, Relief Society President, Choir Director, Sunday School teacher and Seminary teacher.  Verna was devoted to her family, always supporting her husband and children in various work, school, and church events.  She was a meticulous housekeeper.  Her collection of meaningful memorabilia attested to her and Gail’s love of travel and service, including their mission to Titusville, Pennsylvania.  Verna will be remembered most for her thoughtfulness and graciousness.  You didn’t have to be a family member to be served by Verna.  Whether it was a hand-made quilt or dress, or a simple jar of peaches, Verna showed her love to others through thoughtful service.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Gail, four brothers and two sisters.  She is survived by her three children (Eric, Nican Sutherland, and Rayland), 13 grandchildren, fourty-two great grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the Canyon View 3rd Ward, 762 East 1200 North, Orem, Utah at 11:00 AM.   A viewing will be held prior to services, beginning at 10:00 AM.  A viewing will also be held Monday, January 2, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Lindquist's  Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. in Layton, UT.

Verna will be interred in the Orem City Cemetery alongside her husband Gail Loveless.
