Vernetta Call Wilson
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend returned home to the loving arms of her family and Father in Heaven on July 25, 2009.
She was the fourth child of Milton and Ethel Call, born on October 17, 1939 and lived in Layton, UT until recently moving to Wellsville.
She married her eternal companion Dennis H. Wilson fifty years ago on December 4, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
They were blessed with four children: Debra (Kevin) Sharp, Preston, ID; LaRetta (Wendell) Foxley, Clearfield, UT; Mark (Tracie) Wilson, Wellsville, UT; and Michael (Vera) Wilson, Clinton, UT She loved spending time with her 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren: John (Aubrey), Kyla, Nathan, Caden Sharp; William (Heidi) Sharp, Karen (Brayden), Landen Spackman, David (Jamie) Sharp, Milton, Ethan, Jessica, Thomas and Conner Foxley, Colton, Elder Kirk Wilson (Jacksonville Florida Mission), Tinesha, Kelsey and Mariah Wilson, Tyler, Jordyn, Heather and Kylie Wilson.
Being raised on a farm she developed a love of hard work and enjoyed raising lambs, goats and chickens. Even later in life she continued to raise chickens, which she knew each one by name, supplying the family and neighbors with eggs.
She had a special love for her many flowers and could often be found before dawn or after dark watering and caring for them. Her most prized garden was her vast collection of iris flowers. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many positions. She enjoyed serving others, especially spending time and helping the widows in the ward.
Vernetta was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, serving as Camp and District President. She loved her pioneer heritage and sharing the stories with everyone she met. She also enjoyed playing Bunko with her friends and was an avid member of the Dollie Pardners Doll Club, collecting 100''s of dolls from around the world.
For more than ten years she worked for Davis County School District as a Bus Assistant where she helped and loved the children. She co-owned V''s Catering and Decorating using her talents of cooking, decorating, and making beautiful wedding cakes. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, genealogy and scrapbooking. Family vacations and Christmas were mandatory for the entire family.
She is survived by her husband Dennis Wilson, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister LaRue Call Dewitt, brother Robert (Shirley) Call, sister-in-law Viola Call.
Preceded in death by parents Milton and Ethel Call, Henry and Wynona Wilson, brother Dean Call, brother-in-law Don Dewitt. She loved us with all her heart and we love her! All is Well, All is Well!
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the West Layton Ward, 2120 W. Gentile. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
