Vernon J. Christensen
November 2, 1936 ~ April 27, 2021
Vernon J. Christensen, 84 years old, departed this earthly life on April 27, 2021 surrounded by his three daughters. Vernon was born on November 2, 1936 in Banida, Idaho. He graduated from Logan High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Edith Brown Christensen in the Logan Temple on September 19, 1957. They settled in Ogden, Utah where they raised their family.
Vernon was a proud veteran, serving six years in the US Army where he learned his trade of a cable repair which provided for his family for years afterwards. In addition to his unwavering patriotism, Vernon was an outdoor enthusiast spending much of his free time camping, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, boating, and hunting. Many fond memories were made between Vernon and his beloved family while outdoors, all of which will be cherished for years to come.
Active in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vernon served a stake mission where he took pride in sharing his core beliefs with those around him. He later served a service mission with his wife at the Bishops Storehouse and Dry Pack in Ogden, UT. In addition to his contributions and devotion to the LDS Church, he often served his community through his membership in the local Lion’s Club as well as individually serving his community by seeking out any opportunity to show love for his neighbors though various acts of service.
Vernon is survived by his three daughters, Kris Ann Antonio of Ogden, Sonia Noall (Alan) of Bountiful, and Shelie Jenkins (Jim) of Riverdale as well as his eleven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Christensen; parents, Austin and Helen Christensen; brother, Austin Jr.; sisters, Lorna Hardman and Colleen Hansen; and one great-grandson, Rowan Jenkins.
