Vernon Webster Flint

1929 – 2016

Vernon Webster Flint, age 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully June 10, 2016.

Vernon was born in Kaysville, Utah on February 16, 1929 to Chester Calvin and Jemima Webster Flint.  He married the love of his life, Marilyn Taylor, on March 9, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together and their family has been the joy of their lives.

Vernon was a lifelong resident of Kaysville, Utah.  He attended Davis High School where he served as student body president and excelled in athletics.  He was the recipient of the Dr. Keith Barnes outstanding scholar athlete award and the KLO/Standard Examiner outstanding athlete award.  He attended Utah State University but his schooling was cut short when he had to return to Kaysville to assume responsibility for the family farm.

Vernon was an outstanding farmer and stockman who owned and operated several hundred acres in West Kaysville.  He had a deep love and respect for the land.  Some of his greatest qualities were teaching his children responsibility and the value of hard work.

Vernon was a pillar of strength in the community, serving in many capacities.  He served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Layton for 30 years.  He served as president of the Kaysville-Layton Irrigation Company for 19 years.  He was an honorable businessman who had a keen mind and a formula for success and accomplishment.  Vernon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.  One of his strongest attributes was his unwavering faith and testimony of the Gospel.  He taught his children eternal principles through unconditional love and by being a consistent example.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his children John (Shauna), Linda Wright (Rod), and Steve (Peggy), 12 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Iverson, Catherine Adams and brother-in-law, Jay Green.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Jane Green and Helen Barber.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Utah Stake Center, 615 North Flint Street, Kaysville, Utah.  Friends may visit family Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
