Vernon Minnerly Perkins "Together Again"
OGDEN a" Vernon Minnerly Perkins, 97, passed away on November 20, 2012 at McKay Dee Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1915 in Wellsville, Utah a son of Louis Chapman and Charlotte Minnerly Perkins. He was educated in Cache Valley and graduated from South Cache High School. He was very active in athletics.
Vernon married Beatrice Murray Stuart on March 31, 1938 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 22, 1964.
He worked for Hill Air Force Base and was a supervisor in the heating systems for 33 years. He also worked at the Greyhound Bus Lines in Ogden Depot for 18 years.
Vernon was a member of the South Ogden 6th LDS Ward. He served as a home teacher for many years in the ward.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2472 in Ogden.
Vernon actively participated in the Golden Hour Senior Citizen Center.
He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours with his wife, camping, fishing and hunting. They also loved to travel and had been many places.
Vernon is survived by his son, Gerald (Carol) Perkins of Layton; daughter, Connie (Leon) Curtis of Lacey, Washington; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 73 years, Beatrice ; son, Dennis G. Perkins; daughter, Donna P. Stephens; 2 grandsons; 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
He loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Wellsville City Cemetery.
