Vernon Lee Rich
KAYSVILLE – Vernon Lee Rich, 89, passed away July 9, 2017.
He was born August 12, 1927 in Consumers, Utah the son of Vard Losee and Ellen Holroyd Smith Rich. Vernon was raised in Wellington, Utah and had resided in Kaysville, Utah for 50 years.
Vernon married Katherine Avelene Russell on February 2, 1952. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 26, 1962.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Vernon was a member of the LDS Church and served as a ward clerk and home teacher.
He was a council member in Wellington, Utah; a member of the American Legion, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America.
Vernon loved reading, gardening and fishing.
Surviving are his son, Ralph V. (Sandy) Rich, So. Weber; daughters, Karen (Roger) Terry, Layton; Judy (Ron) Adams, Pleasant Grove; Deanna Fitz, Big Canoe, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, brother Gary (Kay) Rich, sisters, Lena Jensen, Bonnie (Mar) Grange, Essie (Richard) Jones, Carol (Perry) Timothy and Joy Podbevsek.
Preceded in death by his wife.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 12 noon at Wellington Cemetery, Wellington, Utah. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
