J. Victor Adams, Jr.

May 12, 1926 ~ May 5, 2017

J. Victor (Vic) Adams, Jr. passed away at home on Friday, May 5, 2017, one week short of his 91st birthday. He was born the second of two children on May 12, 1926 to J. Victor and Jesse Burton Adams in Ogden, Utah.

He continued to reside in the Ogden area until he graduated from Weber High School in 1944. Three days after graduation, he left for the U.S. Navy where he served for two years during World War II.

On June 14, 1947, he married Mae Charlton in Ogden, Utah, they would have been married 70 years this June. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. The companionship Vic and Mae shared was one for the books. The two have always been inseparable. Together they raised their five children in the Ogden area and Layton, Utah.

Vic worked for the Railroad as a clerk for 43 years before retiring. He also served as the secretary for the World Championship Cutter and Chariot Racing Association for 26 years. Short of his family, horses, horse racing and hunting were always his number one passion.

Vic was a John Wayne type of man with equal amounts of grit and tenderness. He had a great sense of humor and laugh that you could hear readily while being hosted in their house trailer parked at the race track, on the golf course, hunting, fishing or while on a winning streak in Wendover.

Vic is survived by his wife, Mae, their five children, Rick (Barbara), Larry (Shawnee), Joe (Diana), Kathy (Jim) Page and Linda Wood; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren (one on the way) and Seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Stewart, grandson, Shane Joseph Adams, and three angel great-grandbabies, Kolbee, Demree and Alex.

Vic was proud of the posterity he left behind and we in return are blessed by the legacy he left with us.

The family extends a special thanks to Ashley and the team from South Davis Home Health.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Chapel, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
