Vicky Cox Avis
HOOPER – Vicky Cox Avis, 47, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at her home following a seizure.
She was born in Ogden, Utah on April 15, 1961 to Gary T. and Dawna Gould Cox. Vicky graduated from Roy High School then went on to Ogden/Weber ATC receiving a CDA. She lived most of her life in Utah but lived in Michigan for a short time.
Vicky married Michael Bruce Avis in 1988 in Chicago, Illinois. They were later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hooper 3rd Ward.
Vicky worked for Head Start for the past 14 years.
Her greatest accomplishment and aspiration was being a Mom. She loved taking care of her family, teaching children, fishing, her pets, and camping.
Surviving are her daughter, Eva-Marie Avis, Hooper; father, Gary Cox, Roy; mother and stepfather, Dawna and Phil Werno, Unionville, MI; two brothers, Chad G. Cox, Dearborn, MI; Arie VanDeGraaff III, Hooper; four sisters, Tracy Bertoch, Kerry (Clifton) Sawyer, and Cassy (Brian) Saunders, all of Ogden; Cindy Burnside, Richardson, TX; her grandmother, Nettie Gould, Roy; her nephews, Dodge VanDeGraaff, Trevor, Trent and Travis Bertoch, Brian Saunders, Jr., her nieces, Valeria Contreras, Tressa Bertoch, KayDee Saunders, Blayache Burnside, Charisse Killian, and her great-niece, Lyrica VanDeGraaff.
Vicky was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thorald Cox and Eva Cottle Cox, Chester Gould, Arie and Valeria VanDeGraaff, her brother, Bret Burnside, and her sister and best friend, Wendy D. Stevenson.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hooper Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.
An education fund for Vicky’s daughter, Eva-Marie Avis, has been established at any Wells Fargo Bank Branch.
