Vilate Brough McDonald

1936 ~ 2018

Vilate Brough McDonald, 82, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Fruit Heights, Utah.  She was born April 19, 1936 in Kaysville, Utah to Benjamin O. and Dorrit Harvey Brough. She has lived in Kaysville and Fruit Heights for most of her life, graduating from Davis High School.

She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States mission.

Vilate met and later married Robert Eugene McDonald on December 18, 1964, in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Robert served a mission in Hanoi, Vietnam from 1993 to 1995. She was also a temple worker.

Vilate graduated in Speech and Hearing/Education from Brigham Young University.  She was the Head of Speech and Hearing for the Davis School District.   Later, she was an elementary school teacher at Wasatch Elementary and Burton Elementary Schools,  teaching in the third and fifth grades, where she loved her students and they loved her.

Vilate enjoyed spending time with her family, doing genealogy, traveling, taking pictures and doing church service.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

As sad as we are to see her go, our mom has missed and mourned the loss of her sweet husband, Bob, since his passing three years ago.  We are grateful for their example of sweet love and compassion for each other.  They were a great example of family first, love and what heaven on earth can be.

Vilate was preceded in death by her husband Robert McDonald, and was the last to join her parents and eight siblings, who we know all rejoiced when she returned home.  She is survived by her children, Gene (Debbie) McDonald, Fruit Heights; Kevin (Tracey) McDonald, Layton; Lisa (Paul) Hoeft, Kaysville; Kristine (Brian) Allen, Kaysville; Becky (Jim) Rigby, Abu Dhabi (UAE); Linda (Gary) Handy, San Diego, CA.; and Vicki Soloman, Fullerton, CA.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her so much joy and that she loved.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 4th Ward Country Lane Chapel, 24 S.
