Viola Mary Richins Allen
July 17, 1932 ~ February 4, 2018
Age 85
Went by the name of Mary by family and friends.
I was born at the old Dee Hospital in Ogden, Weber, Utah. I was the second of three children to parents Milton Arthur and Viola Beesley Richins.
I enjoyed the simple country life of work and play at Peterson, Morgan, Utah, where I was raised. I attended and graduated from Morgan High School on May 18, 1950.
I became the wife of Marion Merrill Allen in my childhood home at Peterson on September 5, 1950. Our vows were later solemnized in the Logan Temple on May 18, 1971.
Merrill and I purchased our home in August 1954 at Washington Terrace, Ogden, Utah. Two years later it was moved and remodeled into a lovely brick home. We raised our family in this home with wonderful neighbors and lived there for 55 years. After Merrill’s death on February 23, 2009, I moved to South Ogden.
I was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served as Relief Society President, Visiting Teacher, Young Women, and served a Stake Mission. I was employed at IRS and Hill AFB and retired after 20 years. I loved being a stay-at-home mom taking care of home and family.
I was able to tour Europe, Greece, England, Wales, Guam, Saipan, and Eastern and Western United States. I enjoyed camping, hiking to lakes in the High Uintah Mountain, bubbling brooks, nature, quiet times, genealogy, history, and family gatherings.
I am survived by my children, Michael Craig and Linda Allen of Peterson, Susan and Les Webb of South Ogden, and Nancy and Michael Todd Nelson of East Layton; six beautiful granddaughters, Sarah, Mary Becky, Melissa, Emily, and Breanna; and four handsome grandsons, Elijah, Joseph, David, and Andrew all of whom are the light of my life; twelve great-grandchildren that I adore; my sister, Joyce Francis; sister-in-law, Susanna and Blaine Taggart; and many nieces and nephews that are so special to me.
The loved ones that preceded me in death were my parents, “Milt” and “Vi” Richins, husband, Marion Merrill Allen; brother, Milton Edgar and wife, Bonnie Jean Welch Richins; granddaughter, Susanna Allen; special niece, Krin Richins; sister-in-law, Jacqueline and husband Cecile Hyden; brother-in-law, Dale Francis; and my parents-in-law, Marion Elijah and Georgia Merrill Allen.
