Viola Lewis Brooker Martinsen

February 28, 1914 ~ February 26, 2015

Viola Lewis Brooker Martinsen, 100, passed away two days short of her 101 birthday, February 26, 2015.  She was born on February 28, 1914 in Paris, Idaho, to Walter Henry Mary Ann Oakey Lewis.

She married Arnold Walter Brooker in November of 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He passed away on May 22, 1939.  Viola married Frank Henry Martinsen, who had five sons, on March 29, 1941 in Soda Springs, Idaho.  Frank passed away on February 27, 1993.

Viola was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in Young Women and Primary.  She was also active in the P.T.A. and D.U.P.

She loved to do hand work.  She was an avid Jazz fan, enjoyed crocheting, loved to fish, and play pinochle. She loved the activities and all her friends at the Gardens Assisted Living.  Thanks is given to everyone at the Gardens for their caring love and for being great special friends.

Viola is survived by her children, Robert (Myra) Martinsen, Kareen Martinsen, Marjean (Thad) Simpson, Gary Martinsen, Velden (Carolee) Martinsen, and Sandra (Ray) Wadsworth; and a posterity of over 300.  She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, sons, Reid and Dale Martinsen; and daughters-in-law, DeLila and Sharon Martinsen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Paris Idaho Cemetery.
