Viola W. Oleson
RIVERDALE - Viola Lowry Wolsey Oleson, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Legacy House Assisted Living Center.
She was born in Alberta, Canada on May 30, 1914 to Marcellus and Rose Lowry. She was one of 15 children.
Viola married Wendell Wolsey on November 24, 1930. In 1941, they were sealed as a family in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple. In their early years they lived in Taylorsville, then moved to the oilfields near Calgary. In 1947 they moved to the Ogden area. Wendell preceded her in death in 1984. In 1986 she met and later married Parley Oleson. They were temple workers for several years and later served an 18 month mission to Louisiana.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including teaching in Sunday School and Relief Society. She also served as a Second Counselor in Relief Society and was an organist.
She retired from the Air Force Printing office in 1975.
Viola had many interests. She loved to dance, golf and was a member of a bowling league for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Parley Oleson, Washington Terace; one son and two daughters, Wendell DeVere (Carol) Wolsey, Bonny Lake, WA; Arvella (Robert) Cox, Peterson, UT; Juanitta (Lemont) Barnes, Roy, UT; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Kathy and Holly from Hospice Horizon for their loving care and friendship. They were like a ray of sunshine. Our thanks and gratitude also goes to all the people at Legacy House. Mother loved them all and they loved her.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
