Viola Geertsen Packer
1918~2010
KAYSVILLE - Viola Geertsen Packer, age 91, passed away at home Monday, April 26, 2010. She was born May 20, 1918 in Ogden Utah to Oscar and Ina Belle Geersten. She married her lifelong companion and sweetheart, William Max Packer Sept. 27, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived most of their married life in Ogden and Kaysville, Utah.
Vie, as she liked to be called, was active in the LDS church and filled many positions including Junior Sunday School Coordinator, Relief Society teacher and counselor, Young Women''s organization and a lifelong visiting teacher. She and Bill served several microfilm service missions for the LDS Church including one to Nova Scotia. She liked to travel with her husband, cook, and make her home feel welcome to others. She had a special gift for making all around her feel important and loved. Most of all she loved her family, especially the young ones.
Viola is survived by her children; sons Scott (Marilyn) and Tom (Lynn); daughters Kathleen (Michael) Blood, Annette (Bruce) Bitner, and Noelene (Kent) Cammack; 27 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren; and a brother William Geertsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, two sisters, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 4th LDS Ward chapel, 200 No. 875 E. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
