Viola Stevenson Visser

Viola Visser passed away on April 23, 2015. She was born on August 10, 1923 in Carbon County, Utah to Ernest and Effie Stevenson. She was noted as being the first baby delivered in the small town of Columbia, Utah.
She loved the life the small mining community afforded. She moved to Ogden in 1948, where she met the love of her life and became Mrs. John J. Visser, a title she proudly carried the rest of her life.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they took their four children to the Logan Temple and became a forever family. She was a member of the Pleasant View 8 th Ward, serving everyone she met with her loving compassion.
Viola was employed and retired from the Defense Depot Ogden, where she worked in MASH Unit Acquisitions.
Through her unconditional charity and acceptance of others, she was blessed with an ability to make everyone feel loved and in return fall in love with her. Everywhere she went people knew they had found a new grandma.
Viola is survived by her son, Rick and Lauri Visser; daughter, Joan and Nick Hansen; sisters, LaRue and Don Larson, Cleveland, UT, Jean and Bernard Taylor, Plain City, UT, Eileen and Steve Holmes, Alaska; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, John; two daughters, Susan Crawford and Sharon Stevenson; parents, Ernest and Effie; three brother-in-laws; and two grandchildren, Erick J. Visser and Rebecca Stevenson.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and 12:30 to 1:30 on Monday.
Interment will be at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
