Virgia Lee Greenfield Wilder

OGDEN - Virgia Lee Greenfield Wilder, 86, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2017.
She was born on May 31, 1931 in Jackson, Mississippi to Lee Henry Johnson and Suzanna Greenfield. She learned the value of hard work cleaning homes in the South.
It was in Jackson, Mississippi on June 16, 1952 that the Lord led her to marry J. C. Wilder; they had attended kindergarten and first grade together in neighboring Raymond, Mississippi.
J.C. and Virgia later moved to Dayton, Ohio where her dedication to working with youth was evident as she worked as a teacher’s aide in the Dayton Public School system for nearly three decades. She also worked in the Nursery at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, until a job reassignment brought them to Ogden, Utah in 1980. She worked many years as a Cook for the Federal Government.
She was a faithful member of the New Zion Baptist Church for over 35 years, serving in various capacities including Deaconess, Youth Director, Mission President, and a proud member of the Culinary Ministry, Women and Mass Choirs and the Sunday School. She was also a proud supporter and member of Church Women United.
Surviving are her four children: Jeffrey (Marjorie) Wilder, Riverside, CA; Dennis (Janette) Wilder, Portland, OR; Kenneth Wilder, Ogden, UT; and Olwyn (Darren) Watson, Tampa, FL; also numerous grandchildren including, Marc, Jeffrey, Jr., and Mauro Wilder, Dariana and Darielle Watson, Bryan, Tuesday, and Wayne Williams; great-grandchildren including, Matthew Williams, Giovanni, Jamilah, Jaelani, Julien, and Jayla Wilder, and great-great-grandchild, Jeshua Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Cloteal Beasley of Jackson, MS.
The family would like to thank the staff and physicians of Ogden Regional Medical Center, Wasatch Care Center/Harrison Pointe, Legacy Care Center, Comfort Keepers, Crestwood Care Center, Summit hospice, Dr. Bruce and the South Ogden Center for Family Medicine and her neighbor for their concern, care, and compassion for “Miss Virgie” during her illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Avenue. The family will meet with friends on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
