Virgil Hester

LAYTON - Virgil Ben Hester, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, December 12, 2013. He was born September 26, 1938 to Marion Zacharia and Ida Louise Thompson Hester, in Neosho, Missouri. Virgil was raised in Tooele, Utah.

In 1959 Virgil met the love of his live, Dora Sue Allen. They married shortly after meeting and he joined the USMC. Together they raised seven girls. Virgil is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired in 1970 from the Marines and settled his family in Clearfield, Utah. Virgil worked at Hill AFB for many years, finally retiring in 1993.

He is preceded in death by his wife, two daughters, his parents, two sisters, one brother and one great-grandson. Virgil is survived by five daughters; Louise Blalock, Connie Brauer, Barbara Brown, Ronda Hester and Virginia Murr. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, five sisters and one brother.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Milligan and Legacy Village for the excellent care he received in the last years of his life.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton. Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery, 55 S. State Street, where military honors will be accorded.
