VIRGINIA HIGHT CREER
1924 - 2017
Virginia Hight Creer, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 in Layton, Utah. Virginia was born February 19, 1924 in Carbon County, Utah. She was the third child of Wallace Dreyfus and Ethel Elliott Hight.
Virginia began life in eastern Utah where her father was a coal miner. She was raised in a busy household with her six siblings Wallace, Norma, Alan, John, Lois, and Dawn.
The family moved through various coal mining communities, as work opportunities fluctuated. Throughout her life, Virginia recounted many fond memories of her childhood in Carbon County and Spring Canyon. Economic circumstances eventually caused the family to leave eastern Utah. They moved intermittently during the Great Depression, eventually settling in Farmington, Utah.
Virginia graduated from Davis High School in 1942, and married Rex Youd Creer in the Salt Lake Temple on April 23, 1943. Virginia and Rex made their family home in Farmington, Utah for 34 years. They raised five children in Farmington, before moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1977.
Virginia and Rex returned to Utah in 1983, and built their retirement home in Fruit Heights. They took great pride in their new home, and felt deep enjoyment opening it to family and friends during their retirement years. Virginia was a charter member of the Fruit Heights Literary Club. Throughout most of her life, Virginia was blessed with good health and abundant energy. Her greatest joy was creating a lovely, orderly, inviting home for her family. After her health waned, Virginia spent her final years in loving care at Fairfield Village in Layton.
Virginia is survived by her children, Jo Ann Moskowitz (Bernie), Seattle, Washington, Kathryn Creer, Bandon, Oregon, William Creer (Catherine), Spokane, Washington, Wallace Creer (Peggy), Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, seven granddaughters, two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Norma Allred, her brother Alan Hight and his wife Mona, sisters-in-law Marilyn Creer and Nora Creer, and brother-in-law Walt Bain.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rex, infant son J. Alan, daughter Mary Jane, brothers Wally and John Hight, and sisters Lois Rasmussen, and Dawn Bain.
