Virginia Smith Felter, 96, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013.
She was born February 8, 1917 in Fairview, Wyoming, the third of six children, to Leo and Mary Janet (Mollie) Shumway Smith.
On February12, 1938, Virginia married Randall Holley Felter in Preston, Idaho.
After their marriage, they lived in many places following her husband''s military career, including San Francisco, Boston, Texas, Chicago and Japan. After Randall retired, they settled in Vernal.
Randall passed away in May 1976 and she remained in Vernal until she moved to Roy, over 20 years ago, to be closer to her family.
She loved teaching elementary school, reading, sewing, crocheting, gardening and playing cards. She enjoyed listening to a Utah Jazz game with her cat on her lap.
She was a member of the LDS Church and loved being a visiting teacher. She also enjoyed extracting names and working in the library.
Virginia is survived by her daughter; Marilyn (Arvol Dale) Smith, Hooper; daughter-in-law, Bertha Felter, Salt Lake City; ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Allen Lee Felter, her siblings, and a grandson.
The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff of Peachtree Assisted Living.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 7th at 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends prior to the service, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the mortuary.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 12 p.m. at the Vernal Memorial Park, 1750 South 500 East, Vernal, Utah.
