Virginia Gail Page Gibbons
Virginia Gail Page Gibbons was born December 3, 1929 in Los Angeles, California to George Rankin and Ester Minerva Swapp Page. At the age of six her father died. At 13 years old, her mother married Ernest William Cardon. Ernest was everything a father could be. She cherished his memory and always felt very comfortable and loved by him. Her mother was devoted to the well being of her family.
She graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. She attended one quarter at Weber College.
On January 29, 1948, she married the love of her life, Frank Hunter Gibbons, from Scarsdale, New York. Later, on May 1, 1961, they were sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake Temple. After 56 years of marriage, Frank passed away from Malignant Melanoma. She has missed him every day since then, waiting patiently to join him.
From their union, they had four children: Michael John Gibbons, Portland, OR; Jayne Christine Gailey (Mike), Syracuse; Phillip Waldo Gibbons (Linda), Murray; and Gail Anne Dwyer (Mike), Las Vegas, NV. She has 17 grandchildren who she adored, Jodi Marie Williams (Anthony), Julie Christine Wallace, Ryan Frank Gibbons, David Michael Gibbons, Buffey Ann Andrew (Ryan), Phyllis Kay Moyes (Scott), Michael Paul Gailey (Jen), David Gregory Gailey (Kristi), Matthew Hunter Gailey (Whitney), Joseph Clint Gailey (Sara), Christing Page Childs (Ben), Phillip Brant Gibbons (Stephanie), Gina Ball (Lorin), Jillian Hoggan (Archie), Marcus Jake Nix, Rory Elizabeth Geller (Abe), and Curtis Hunter Nix (Crystle). She has 35 great-grandchildren, who adored her, with two more on the way, and two step-grandchildren: Lindsay M. Dwyer and Ryan F. Dwyer.
Gail had many hobbies and talents that bless the lives of her posterity and those around her. She had a beautiful soprano voice that calmed fears, dried tears, and testified of Christ. She had an artistic eye and painted beautiful oil paintings of nature. She always remembered and recognized the special dates in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a personalized card or note.
Her testimony of the gospel has been maintained since her baptism at the age of eight into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony has sustained her all of her life. She was an active member of the church and valiantly served in all of the organizations. One of her cherished memories was singing at a Stake Conference that Elder LeGrand Richards presided at.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Ruth Allred, brothers-in-law Rex Allred, Lloyd Gibbons, John Gibbons, and sister-in-law Patricia Gibbons.
