Virginia "Ginny" Ann Hanson

OGDEN, UT: Virginia "Ginny" Ann Garfield Hanson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2013. She was born in Danville, IL. on November 12, 1937. She graduated from Danville High School in 1955 and attended Miami University of Ohio for three years where she studied business. She married Martin P. Hanson on January 2, 1960.

Ginny began working in high school as a solicitor for the United Fund in Danville, IL. After college her career continued with the Navy Department in Arlington, Virginia, and ended with her retirement from Raytheon Engineers & Constructors in Downers Grove, IL.

Being Phil and Gunnar''s mother brought her joy. She loved cats, lighthouses, long leisurely walks, reading, and spending time near the ocean.

Survivors include her husband, Martin P. Hanson, Sr., Darien, IL; sons; Martin Philip (Mary) Hanson, Jr., Pinckney, MI and Adam Gunnar (Teddie) Hanson, Roy, UT; granddaughters, Melissa Hanson, Kalamazoo, MI; Josephine Hanson ,Pinckney, MI; and Sonie Christensen, Clearfield, UT; brother, William "Bill" D. (Jeanie) Garfield, Katy, TX: stepfather, Elwood J. "Woody" Farmer, Urbana, IL; brother-in-law, Warren "Gus" (Jan) Hanson, Watseka IL; sister-in-law, Karen Babbitt, Redmond, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ginny in death were her mother, Emily L. Garfield Farmer - 1914-2004; and stepfather, Harold F. Garfield - 1896-1964.

A celebration of Ginny''s life will take place at a later date at which time her remains will be scattered at her favorite place in New Hampshire.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Legacy House of Ogden and HCNU hospice for the loving care they provided Ginny these past two months.
