Virginia Child Beus Hipwell

September 16, 1918 ~ April 10, 2017

Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on April 10, 2017 and returned home to her Heavenly Father.  Virginia was born on September 16, 1918 in Vernal, Utah to Heber and Sindia Child Beus.  She was raised in Ogden and attended elementary through high school there.

She married Arnold J. Hipwell on March 22, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised two boys, Kenneth and Gary. They were the light of her life. She was active in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but especially loved working with children.

She worked at the Ogden Arsenal during World War II. Then she worked many years for Smith’s Food & Drug where she supervised all the data going in the main computer until retiring in 1983.

Virginia is the fifth of seven children. She outlived every member of her family and Arnold’s as well.

She loved to shop with her sisters and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed going to the horse races. She spent her last years in her own home taking care of everything she could with the help of her family.  She loved her family and had a personal relationship with each one. She always tried to be independent and take care of herself.

Virginia is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Darlene) Hipwell and Gary (MaryAnn) Hipwell as well as seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her parents, her three sisters, three brothers, daughter-in-law, Sherry Hipwell; daughter-in-law, Tahna Hipwell; grandson, Greg Hipwell; grandson-in-law, Tim Stulce; granddaughter-in-law, Shelly Hipwell; and great-great grandson, Lincoln Ty Penland.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the West Weber Cemetery.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the West Weber Stake Center, 900 South 4100 West.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
