Virginia H. Koldewyn

March 23, 1924 ~ April 11, 2014

Virginia Mary Hewitt Koldewyn, age 90, born in Ogden, March 23, 1924 to Andrew George and Maria Van Leeuwen Hewitt passed away on April 11, 2014. She graduated from Ogden High School. Endeared as GeGe by her best friend and sweetheart; and also by her friends, and grandma GeGe by her grandchildren.

She married her best friend Vern Franklin Koldewyn on March 20, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Virginia was a picture of elegance and a friend to all she met. Kindness and gentleness were her watch words. She loved to fly fish with her husband Vern and was an avid golfer. Above all, she loved and was loved. Each of her grandchildren knew they were her favorite.

Virginia loved her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served faithfully in many callings including Relief Society and Young Women President.

Virginia is survived by her children: Connie (Philip) Paskett, Lee (Mary Lou) Koldewyn, and Kay (Todd) Cummings; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and sister, June (Dick) Gruettner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents, grandsons, Thomas and Nathan; and her three brothers, Grant, Gordon, and Boyd.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale 2 ^nd Ward, 1175 West 5500 South.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
