Virginia Hadley Pope
OGDEN a" Virginia Hadley Pope, 96, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 in Ogden.
She was born November 9, 1912 in Ogden, the first of four daughters, and the third born of eleven children to John H. and Laura Thurston Hadley.
On December 14, 1939, Virginia married Clarence E. Pope in Nampa, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Clarence preceded her in death on April 5, 1998.
Virginia spent her early years in Reno, Nevada. Her education was completed both in Utah and Nevada. Virginia worked for three theaters and modeled for a department store while in Reno. After returning to Ogden, she worked at the Egyptian Theater and at the American Can Company.
Virginia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held callings in Relief Society and Sunday School. She was a Visiting Teacher for over 23 years and an Ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple for seven years.
Virginia traveled with her husband for over 20 years, throughout the Mid-Western and Eastern United States due to his occupation and his service time with the U.S. Army.
Virginia and Clarence''s hobbies included traveling, bowling, ballroom dancing, and "forty years of golfing", with the accomplishment for Virginia, of a "hole in one" on the Naples, Florida Country Club Golf Course.
Virginia is survived by the following brothers, Edward J. Hadley and Thomas M. Hadley both of Ogden; Robert T. Hadley and J. Rodney Hadley both of Bountiful; sister, Jeri Williams of Bountiful; and four step-grandchildren of Florida.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, step-daughter, Joyce, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Crestwood Care Center, CNS Home Care Nursing and Hospice, and special thanks to friends Kathleen Wiley, Wes Richards and Hilary for their loving care of Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
