Virginia Stanger

Virginia Ellen Reynolds Stanger

Virginia Ellen Reynolds Stanger was born June 3, 1921 to Daniel Boone and Nellie Phillippenna Austin Reynolds in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Virginia died September 28, 2014 in South Weber, UT.  She was the youngest of nine children and looked forward to reuniting with those that preceded her.

Virginia spent most of her young life in Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1939.  The following day she moved to Ogden to stay with her sister.  There she met and married Cyril B. Stanger, later moving to her beloved South Weber.

Her children and their spouses are:  Dan (Jean) Stanger; Fred, deceased, (Joanne) Stanger; Dave (Pam) Stanger,  Sally (Tom) Roberts, Tom (Joyce) Stanger, Sam (Silvia) Stanger, Deborah (Rob) Finn-Nokes, Jerry (Doreen) Stanger, and Lynda (Randy) Smedley, to whom we give a special thanks for their loving care the last few years.  Also gratitude to Sally and Deb for their dedication in Mom’s time of need.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, ex-husband, Cy; son, Fred; daughter-in-law, Diane Stanger; Grandson, Cecil Kim Stanger; and Great Grandsons Kaden Stanger and Taylor Johnston.  Her posterity numbers 190 +2 on the way.

Virginia enjoyed working in her garden, baking bread, studying the scriptures, an afternoon nap and sharing the above with her family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the LDS South Weber 1 st Ward, 1401 South Weber Drive.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
