Virginia Catherine Adams Winegar

LAYTON/KAYSVILLE - Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away in her home on Saturday, July 25, 2009 from causes incident to age. Virginia was known for her warm heart and genuine interest in others. She was an example of honor, loyalty, dedication, courage, and unconditional love to her spouse, children, grandchildren and their children.

Virginia was born May 27, 1921 in Layton, Utah to Daniel H. Adams and Mary Frasier Adams. Her childhood was encircled in love, joy, and laughter with her parents, her sister Helen, and her brother Beecher.

Virginia attended schools in Davis County, graduating from Davis High School with the class of 1939. She served as secretary/treasurer to the reunion committee for many years.

Virginia met her husband, Wayne M. Winegar, at Davis High School. She worked at California Pac and waited for Wayne as he completed an LDS mission to Honolulu, Hawaii. They were married January 5, 1943, and they made their living in the grocery business and public service.

Virginia served the community as a Rotary Ann. She worked as a leader and teacher in every church auxiliary. She was a great support to her children as they attended school, serving in the PTA and as a room mother.

Virginia was a member of Belletristic Literary Club and loved to study literature. She traveled extensively with her family and was also an avid bowler. An enthusiastic chef and homemaker, Virginia served meals to visiting church authorities and preserved food in the tradition of her ancestors, bottling chili well into her 80s. Among the many things her grandchildren will remember are her smile and hugs, her fudge and lollipops, and the basement stagecoach.

Virginia is survived by her husband Wayne, children Thomas A. (Alice Kaye) Winegar, Robert W. (Mary Ann) Winegar, Kathryn (Ron) McCormick, Kevin Taylor, (son-in-law), Beecher D. Adams, brother, 21 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her dear daughter (Ann Michelle Winegar Taylor), her parents, and her sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Road, conducted by Bishop Dixon Weston.
