Vivian Lynn Stanger Manning, our wife, mother, grandmother, Aunt and "baby" sister passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, January 04, 2011. We will miss her so much, but are happy for her that she is now without pain and reunited with her grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters and other family that have gone on before.

Vivian was born in American Falls, Idaho on October 1, 1952, the last of 15 children. After four boys, the family happily greeted their new sister. Her mother states, "she was everyone''s little doll, especially mine." She grew up in a loving home. Vivian received all of her early education in American Falls, and graduated from American Falls High School in 1971. She spent a year at Ricks College, and then received a grant for nursing school in Boise. In 1974, she received her Bachelor''s in Nursing as an RN, a profession she practiced much of her life in hospitals, nursing homes and at home. She had one of the two highest scores in her group that took the State Boards. Her first job was at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Vivian did not have much time to practice her nursing skills for awhile, as she was called to the California Arcadia Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints starting June, 1975. She served at the same time her mother was serving in the Fort Lauderdale Florida Mission.

In 1978, Vivian met the love of her life, Sheldan Manning. They were married June 30, 1978 in the Idaho Falls Temple, beginning a life of 32 years together. Two children were born to this union, Lance in 1979 and Alisha in 1981. During their married life, they''ve lived in Ogden, Harrisville, East Layton, and Syracuse, where they now reside. Their family now includes three granddaughters, Brena, Teara, and RyaLynn, who were the light of Vivian''s life.

At the time Vivian started nursing school, she began developing what became a painful, chronic illness called Crohn''s disease. Later, she developed additional chronic health problems associated with this disease. But even though being sick much of the time, Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and nurse. She served others through her pain, and was usually a very happy person. She had a solid testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and a full understanding of the Plan of Salvation. She looked forward to reuniting with loved ones.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ethel Adkins Stanger; Sisters Gail and Winnie Bower (Martin); Brothers Richards (Billie of Pocatello) and Davis. She is survived by her husband, Sheldan Manning, son, Lance, daughter, Alisha, and granddaughters, Brena, Teara and RyaLynn all of Syracuse. Others that survive her are her brothers Lionel (Nancy) of Meridian, ID; Kay (Bonnie) of American Falls, ID; Gordon (Vicky) of Pocatello, ID; and Merrill (Victoria) of Salt Lake City; her sisters, Afton Grasmick (Jake, deceased) of Idaho Falls, ID; Elsie Kelly (Myrlen, deceased) of Bountiful; Ruth Bitton (Lloyd) of Pocatello; Ethel Ellsworth (Glenn) of Las Vegas; Ann Jenkins (Evan, deceased) of Tooele; and Iola Kelly (Gary) of Layton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Jensen Park Ward, 3024 So. 1200 W., Syracuse, Utah. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
