Vonda Long Odekirk
FARR WEST - Vonda Long Odekirk, 84, passed away of natural causes on November 18, 2012, at home with her loving husband, Forrest, by her side. She was born on June 25, 1928, in Mapleton, Idaho the daughter of Rufus C. and Lettie Perkins Long.
While attending BYU she met and married her sweetheart of 64 years, Forrest G. Odekirk on April 24, 1948. Vonda was an exceptional loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides the Lord, her family was the most important part of her life. Her loving influence on all of their lives will have everlasting effects, she will be sorely missed.
She enjoyed many hunting, fishing, and travel vacations with family and friends. She also had many enjoyable times at her home in Huntsville and at the family cabin in Scare Canyon.
Vonda had a great love of Jesus Christ and she studied the scriptures diligently and bore her testimony continually to her family. She was a member of the Westwood Ward, and she held many callings during her life in Relief Society, Primary and one of her most favorite callings was being in the Scouting Program for many years. She also loved attending the temple.
Vonda''s lifetime goal was working diligently to protect the Constitution of the United States. She studied the government of this nation and she fought continually to defend it against those who are not loyal to it. She was a true American Patriot.
Vonda is survived by her husband, Forrest, a daughter, Gail Baird of Farr West, and three sons, Lloyd Odekirk of Plain City, and Kyle Odekirk, and Kim Odekirk both of Ogden, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Wade J. Odekirk; grandson, Cody R. Odekirk; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Westwood Ward Chapel, 2123 N. 2000 W., Farr West, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:35 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Idaho at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
